Mark your calendars for the first, "Drop the Needle Paint Party" presented by Honey Vinyl Music Studio!
Children ages 8 and up are invited to Honey Vinyl Music Studio on April 13th from 5-8pm to embrace their creativity through music and art. So what exactly is a "Drop the Needle Paint Party" you might be asking...
Our "Drop the Needle" events are intended to give children the unique opportunity to explore collections of vinyl albums, all while creating a piece of art that was inspired by the musical soundscapes they're listening to.
For our first "Drop the Needle" event, we'll be exploring the music of composer and jazz musician, Duke Ellington. Upon arrival at the event, children will receive a blank canvas, paints, and brushes for creating. We'll fill them in on some of Ellington's great achievements in music before we "drop the needle" on some of his most memorable vinyl albums.
Once the music begins, it's time to create! Children will have a chance to paint their canvas while listening to the soundscapes of Mr. Ellington. This is not intended to be a guided painting, but rather a chance to be moved and inspired by some fantastic music.
We'll have snacks and watch a 1940s performance by Duke Ellington while our canvas paintings dry. At the end of the evening, students will have the opportunity to share their canvas art with one another and of course take home to display!
This is a private event and is limited to 15 children, ages 8 and up. You must reserve your child's spot before the evening of the event if you plan for your child to attend. The cost is $35 per child and includes a canvas and materials for painting, as well as a snack and drink for the evening. Parent drop off is at 5pm and pick up will be at 8pm.
